Shouldn t the Value of WLP Be Obvious?

Shouldn ‚ t the Value of WLP Be Obvious?

During this, the information age being driven by the knowledge economy, it is more apparent than ever that the knowledge, skills, and abilities of an organization ‚ s people drive its effectiveness, competitiveness , and bottom-line value. It would seem that your value as a WLP professional, who builds and nurtures an organization ‚ s people, would be amazingly obvious. Communicating your value should be easy, effective, even fun.

Such is not the case, however. Many WLP professionals are baffled that what seems obvious to them is not so obvious to others.

There ‚ s no doubt about it: Clearly understanding your value and helping others to see that value is one of the most important things you can do. It makes a difference in your own life, helps you support or manage your department, and earns recognition and support for the departments you serve or for your customers. Unfocused communication wastes everyone ‚ s time.

There is also no doubt about this fact: Building and retaining talent has become an urgent topic in the boardroom. Executives can no longer assume that their WLP programs or other key interventions are paying off. They need frequent, clear communication about their employees ‚ performance improvement. If your value as a WLP professional is not obvious, the problem must not be the importance of the message. So where ‚ s the problem?
