Summary

This chapter covered a lot of information about components. We talked about what a component is and when you should use one. We covered the basic fundamentals of components including

  • How to set parameters

  • How to capture their events

  • How to extract data from them

We also went into some more advanced features of components and how to use them including

  • The dataProvider property

  • Data binding

And we finished up by creating a debugger component that can data bind to other components to test data.

You will see components again as you go through the chapters covering external data integration because components make quick work of necessary interface pieces for applications.
