As mentioned in previous chapters, one of the primary roles of a Windows Server 2003 server is that of a data repository or file server. The main administrative task of a file server is the management and maintenance of folder and file system permissions. This can range from deciding which users can access the files and folders on the server to deciding exactly what type of access they will have. In addition, the system administrator should be able to troubleshoot problems with file and folder access, not only when users are unable to access a necessary file or folder, but more importantly, when they have a higher level of access than they should. This chapter covers the tasks and procedures required to maintain data in Windows Server 2003. This type of information is not only crucial for a job as a system administrator, it is also very important for the exam. |
