Pure HTML has never allowed Web content developers to exercise a lot of control over text formatting. For example, tasks such as creating double-spaced text, modifying the space between letters in a word, and specifying custom fonts were almost impossible feats before style sheets came into use. The introduction of Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) made tasks like these relatively easy. In this chapter, we will take a look at the tools that CSS gives us for working with text, including font and text style attributes and font embedding.
