Organizational Structure and the Development Life Cycle

Before reviewing the migration process, it is helpful to look at the parts of an organization that are involved in the development, implementation, and life of the applications. Because all migration projects are different, this chapter uses a generic development and production environment. For information about more specific environment types, the issues they raise, and how to work through those issues, see Chapter 7, Creating the Development Environment, and Chapter 10, Interix Code Conversion.

Figure 3.1 shows a typical organization, including some of the departments that are involved in an application s life cycle.
