Applying a Template to a Page

 < Day Day Up >

In the preceding exercise, you created new pages based on the template you created. What if you have an existing document that you want to look like the other pages? You can select the elements on the page and then copy them into a new page you have created from the template. You can also apply the template to the existing page.

1.

Open the request.htm file within the HTML folder.

This file contains a simple form for requesting a catalog.

2.

On the Assets panel, select Templates and then click Apply.

You want to apply the template to the open page. A dialog box opens informing you that your document contains inconsistent region names. Remember that you defined the center table cell of the template as an editable region named Content.

3.

Select Document Body in the Inconsistent Region Names dialog box. In the Move Content to New Region pop-up menu, select Content. Click OK.

You are assigning the entire document to the Content region of the template. When you click OK, the template is applied to the file, and the form is contained within the center table cell.

4.

Title the page Request a Catalog and then save your file.
