Viewing the Page in the Browser

 < Day Day Up >

Once you have set your preferences, you can view your page in both the primary and secondary browsers. The quickest way is to use the keyboard shortcuts: F12 for the primary browser and Ctrl+F12 (PC) or Command+F12 (Mac) for the secondary browser.

You can also click the globe button on the toolbar and select the browser from the pop-up menu. If you have several browsers defined, they will all appear in the menu.

1.

Use one of the methods described to view your page in the browser.

Move the pointer over the buttons and the month text to check your rollovers.

Note

If you see out-of-place images when you view the page in the browser, you may have forgotten to set the HTML settings when you exported your file. Return to Fireworks, open the PNG file, and then choose File > HTML Setup. Verify that you selected the option to include areas without slices and that you named your slices.

2.

Click the About Us button and the Facts & Recipes button.

The links you assigned in Fireworks take you to the about.htm page and the facts.htm page. Clicking the other buttons results in an error message since you haven't created those pages.

You might notice that you have no way to return to the home page. In the next exercise, you will assign a link on your pages to return to your home page.

3.

Close the browser and return to Dreamweaver.
