Working with The Web Layer

 < Day Day Up >

Hotspots and slices (covered later in this lesson) are stored on the Web Layer on the Layers panel. The Web Layer is the top layer by default and cannot be moved. As you work with your images, you may want to hide the hotspots or slices to edit the objects below. You can click Show/Hide Slices on the Tools panel or use the Layers panel. If you use the Tools panel, all hotspots, slices, and slice guides are hidden. If you use the Layers panel, you can hide individual slices or hotspots.

1.

Choose Window > Layers to open the Layers panel.

The Layers panel displays the Web Layer as the top layer.

2.

Click the plus (Windows) or triangle (Macintosh) to expand the Web Layer.

The three hotspots for the image map are displayed as separate objects on the Layers panel.

3.

Click the Hide Layer icon (the eye) on one of the hotspot objects.

The hotspot on the canvas is hidden. Click the Show/Hide Layer icon again to view the hotspot.

Tip

If you hide the Web Layer on the Layers panel, hotspots will still be exported when you export as HTML.

Note

You can click the lock column (the column with the pencil) on the Web Layer to ensure that you don't delete or move the hotspots or slices. For this exercise, leave the Web Layer unlocked.

4.

Save and close the banner.png file.
