Chapter 2: Getting Started with Photoshop

Overview

Rather than start this book with a definition of every nook and cranny of Photoshop, let’s instead jump headfirst into the program. Hands-on practice is a lot more fun and effective way to learn anyway.

In this chapter, you’ll learn Photoshop’s major web design tools. After reading this chapter, you’ll know enough to get up and running with the software. You’ll also learn about creating logos — an important but often overlooked area of web design.

Logos are usually only a small part of a website; however, they carry much weight. They’re symbolic…carrying messages about the nature of a company’s business and the company’s style.

With that said, let’s get started.
