Other BizTalk Tools

Microsoft BizTalk Server 2000 has several other features for managing partner relationships:

  • BizTalk Management Desk This is a graphical user interface (GUI) that you can use either on the server or remotely on a client to manage the exchange of data between trading partner organizations and applications.
  • BizTalk Server Administration Console This is a Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in you can use to manage and maintain your server or server groups. The administration console documentation includes extensive troubleshooting information.
  • BizTalk Document Tracking This user interface tracks documents and monitors document activity as documents pass through the server. Document Tracking is essential for two major audiences: business analysts and system administrators. Business analysts rely on tracking documents and activities to monitor, analyze, and develop internal business strategies. By extracting and storing important user-defined data from within documents, system analysts can track and analyze detailed information about business operations. System administrators use tracking documents and activities to define the scope of data tracking, establish activity logging settings, purge settings, and perform troubleshooting analyses.
  • BizTalk Workflow Designer Workflows can be created through a wonderful interface that uses Microsoft Visio. This interface is a graphical representation of the flow of your business processes. A business analyst creates a workflow using a graphical drag-and-drop environment, and Microsoft BizTalk Server 2000 creates hooks into the appropriate processes to make the workflow do its work. This workflow is attached to the trading partner agreement and is executed whenever a document comes in from that partner.
