Appendix C. Installing and Using the iDisk Utility for Windows XP

 <  Day Day Up  >

Realizing that many .Mac members were using Windows by day and a Mac at night, Apple released a Windows XP version of the iDisk Utility. [1] The Windows XP version of the iDisk Utility is similar to the Mac OS X version; however, there are a couple caveats:

[1] At present, Apple does not have plans to port the iDisk Utility to other versions of Windows, including Windows 95/98/NT/ME/2000.

  • It can only be used to mount iDisks and Public folders.

  • It does not have the capability to change the access privileges or password-protect your Public folder.

  • It does not directly provide you with details about your iDisk, similar to the iDisk Storage option in the Mac OS X version.

The iDisk Utility for Windows XP can be downloaded from the Mac.com web site (http://www.mac.com/1/idiskutility_download.html).

The following sections will walk you through the process of downloading, installing, and using the iDisk Utility for Windows XP.
