Close, Minimize, and Zoom Buttons

As with every window in Mac OS X, you see the three colored buttons in the upper-left corner of the window, but they act a little differently in iTunes.

  • Click the red button (the left button) to hide the iTunes window, even while music is playing. It won't affect the music.

To show the player again, from the File menu choose "Show Current Song."

Or use the keyboard shortcut Command 1 (one) to toggle between "Hide Player" and "Show Player" while iTunes is active.

  • Click the center yellow button to minimize the player and send it to the Dock. The selected song continues to play. To bring the player back to the Desktop, single-click it in the Dock.

  • Click the green button (the Zoom button, on the right) to reduce the size of the player window to its smallest possible size, as shown below. Click the green button again to return to the full window size.

This button collapses the entire iTunes window down to a compact, space-saving window.
