Summary

Although this is a short chapter, you've actually covered a lot of ground. What you've learned is how to work with Web Matrix and how to build pages, using both the Design view and the Code view. In particular you've seen how to:

  • Create a new ASP.NET web page

  • Use the Toolbox to drag controls onto a page

  • Use the Properties window to set properties on controls

  • Add code to controls

  • Run your page

Some of what you've seen might be simple, but that's the whole point – Web Matrix isn't hard to use! As we go through the book you'll find this lesson pays off as you realize you are comfortable with the way pages are designed. We're going to reinforce this lesson in the next chapter, when we look at creating user interfaces in more detail.
