Chapter 5 -- Modeling the First Business Tier

[Previous] [Next]

Chapter 5

In Chapter 4, "Implementing the Rules," we decided how to implement the rules we listed in Chapter 3, "On Rules and Their Locations." Let's proceed by looking at a model of the part of the application we've talked about so far. As we do that, we should realize that we're still early in the development process and also in the learning process. We'll never know as little about the subject at hand, or its problems, as we do right now. For every step we take forward in developing this application, we'll learn more.

In this chapter, we'll restrict ourselves to modeling the user services tier and the first part of the business services tier. We'll deal with the inner parts of the business services tier and its offerings in several upcoming chapters. In order to show you where we're heading, however, we'll start by listing the major parts of the application as a whole.
