Editing the Registry

Before making any changes to the registry, be sure that Read Only Mode is not selected on the Options menu.

To change the value of an existing value entry:

  1. Select the window of the predefined key in which the value resides.
  2. Select the appropriate key in the left pane.
  3. Double-click the value entry in the right pane.

An editor window appears, appropriate for the data type of the value entry. Make your edit in this window and click OK. Note that you can't change either the name of the value entry or its data type.

To delete a value entry:

  1. Select the window of the predefined key in which the value entry resides.
  2. Select the appropriate key in the left pane.
  3. Select the value entry in the right pane.
  4. Press the Delete key.
  5. Answer the confirmation prompt (if Confirm On Delete is on).

To add a value entry:

  1. Select the window of the appropriate predefined key.
  2. Select the key in which the new value entry is to reside.
  3. Open the Edit menu and choose Add Value.
  4. The Add Value dialog box, shown below, appears.

  5. Type the name of the value entry in the Value Name box.
  6. Select the value's data type from the Data Type list.
  7. In the dialog box that appears next, type the value of the value entry.

To delete a key:

  1. Select the window of the predefined key in which the key resides.
  2. Select the key in the left pane.
  3. Press the Delete key.
  4. Answer the confirmation prompt (if Confirm On Delete is on).

Note that deleting a key deletes all its subkeys as well.

To add a key:

  1. Select the window of the appropriate predefined key.
  2. Select the key in which the new key is to reside (that is, the key that will contain the new key).
  3. Open the Edit menu and choose Add Key.
  4. In the Add Key dialog box, type the name of your new key.
