Q&A

Q1:

If I already have Office XP, can I install Office 2003 without uninstalling Office XP?

A1:

Yes. If you install Office 2003 on top of Office XP, Office will retain your customized settings in Office XP so that you don't have to redo them in Office 2003. Refer to Appendix A for more information.

Q2:

I'd like to single-click my Word shortcut icon instead of double-clicking it to start the program. How do I do that?

A2:

Click the Start button, and click My Computer. Choose Tools, Folder Options in the My Computer window. In the General tab, mark the Single-click to Open an Item (Point to Select) option button, and click OK.

Q3:

Should I close Word before I shut down Windows?

A3:

In general, it's a good idea to save and close your Word documents and exit Word before shutting down Windows. However, if you do issue the command to shut down when you have open Word documents that have unsaved changes, Word will prompt you to save the documents before the computer shuts down.
