Whale Communications is the established leader in SSL VPN and web-application security solutions. It offers several products intended to:

Securely grant employees remote access to internal resources such as applications and files, and enable partners, customers, and prospects to interact with important business systems.

At the core of the five e-Gap products is Whale's innovative Air Gap technology, which provides the utmost security by isolating application servers and tightly controlling application layer access to them. The e-Gap suite utilizes an application-centric approach to unite all of the components that protect the application into a single appliance. Encryption, authorization, authentication HTTP payload screening, automatic rule-set generation and a physical air gap all reside within an integrated platform.

Whale's products include:

The e-Gap Remote Access Appliance enables organizations to rapidly provide employees with browser-based access to corporate Intranet applications and files without jeopardizing security. Also known as a clientless VPN or SSL VPN, e-Gap Remote Access frees the employee from being bound to a particular location, laptop, or device for the purpose of accessing their Intranet resources, while conforming to the strictest policies of network security. e-Gap Remote Access can deliver applications like e-mail, CRM, and Human Resources, as well as network file shares, to locations such as a client site, home offices, airport kiosks, even wireless devices anywhere employees can use a simple browser.

The e-Gap Webmail Appliance for Microsoft Exchange provides a secure front end to Microsoft Exchange (5.5 and 2000) enabling Outlook Web Access from any browser anywhere in the world. It is a cost-effective, rapidly deployable alternative to VPNs. e-Gap Webmail protects against IIS vulnerabilities like Code Red and even unknown future exploits. There's no need to open dangerous holes in your firewall. The e-Gap Webmail Appliance also overlays strong authentication like RSA SecurID Authentication and provides additional security features such as a patent-pending "secure log-off." Installation is quick and nonintrusive, requiring no intervention with production Exchange servers or firewalls.

The e-Gap Webmail Appliance for Lotus Domino enables secure web access to corporate Lotus Domino servers from any Internet browser, without the need for a VPN. It acts as a secure front end to the back end Domino servers, in a scalable, one-to-many network architecture. It thus eliminates the cost i.e. security price, administrative overhead, and dollar expense of replicating the Domino servers to the DMZ. Dangerous holes do not need to be opened in the firewall due to the network isolation and application-level security the appliance provides. It overlays strong authentication like RSA SecureID and provides security features such as strict application level filtering.

The e-Gap Application Firewall Appliance enables organizations to rapidly deploy secure web-based access to sensitive core applications. The System may be used to protect e-business applications for customers or partners (such as eCRM, supply chain integration or e-billing). It protects against known and unknown threats by isolating application servers via Air Gap technology and tightly controlling application layer access to them. It also significantly reduces the urgency to patch production web servers. It unites all of the application-protection components into a single application-centric appliance, and features automatic learning of the application to generate and enforce application-level rule sets. Encryption, authorization, authentication, PKI, HTTP payload screening, automatic rule-set generation and a physical air gap all reside within an integrated software/hardware platform.

The e-Gap Network Separator Appliance enables organizations to securely transfer data in real-time between disconnected networks. Organizations may utilize this to transfer files between DMZs and the back office, upload files to web servers situated in DMZs, or provide e-mail/file connectivity between networks of different security classifications all without opening up communication ports between the networks. It can also be used to secure other standard and proprietary client/server applications. It includes stringent application-level inspection capabilities for file and mail applications and an API for custom filtering.
