In this chapter you explored several ways of creating a user interface for an add-in. You learned how to create toolbars and menus using objects inherent in .NET extensibility. You also learned how to create sophisticated menus and toolbars using the Microsoft Office Command object model. Although .NET extensibility offers the ability to create toolbars and menus, using the Microsoft Office Command object model offers a much more powerful and flexible tool for creating an interface. Finally, you learned a novel, yet simple way to create a UI that is activated from the system tray.
In Chapter 8 you will discover how to use the Macro Explorer and Macros IDE to test code that you can use in an add-in. The Macro Explorer and Macros IDE are new to Visual Studio and provide a very powerful addition to the IDE.
