Deleting Files

This one is self-explanatory. Throughout the course of every project, you need to delete files from your project. To delete a clip, bin, or library from a project, follow these steps:

  1. Select the item you want to delete.

  2. Press the Delete key.

note

As with most computer-based editing systems, Premiere's clips work as reference points to the original media. Therefore, deleting a clip in the project window does not remove the media from the hard drive.

Do the following to permanently remove digitized or imported media (source files) stored on a hard drive:

  1. From the Desktop level, select the hard drive containing the media or files you want to delete.

  2. Open the folder you created that contains the project's media files.

  3. Select the individual files you want to delete.

  4. Press the Delete key. Depending on your system, you might need to empty the Trash to clear the files from your hard drive.
