Day 4. Advanced Servlet Techniques

Before you proceed to today's topic, here is a quick recap of what you studied yesterday. The topics that you covered were Java servlet concepts, the Java Servlet API 2.3, different techniques for implementing session handling in servlets, and ways to deploy Java servlets in WebLogic Server. In yesterday's session, you learned to write Java servlets and, more importantly, to deploy Java servlets in WebLogic Server and to incorporate different techniques of session handling in Java servlets. Today you will be studying these advanced features of the Servlet API 2.3 specification: inter-servlet communication, filters, listeners, and events. In addition, you will construct the first building block of your MVC application: the controller servlet.
