Summary

In this chapter, we've taken a peek at how Vista preserves and verifies the integrity of the software that runs on the computer, as well as the integrity of core operating system files. While some of the enhancements are regulated to the 64-bit edition of Vista, these changes tend to be more restrictive for application developers. However, these changes are necessary, even if they will initially be a tax for developers. In the long-run, third-party vendors will see a return on investment through the enhancement of security in both their software and services and in the Windows operating system as a whole.
