Nesting Fields

You can create a nested field, which is a field within a field, to provide multiple levels of variable information. You can create a nested field by following these steps:

  1. Create the first field by choosing Insert, Field, and then selecting the field options you want in the Field dialog box.

  2. Click OK to close the Field dialog box and add the field to your document.

  3. Press Alt+F9 to display field codes if necessary, and then place the insertion point inside the newly created field at the location you want to insert the second field code.

  4. Choose Insert, Field to display the Field dialog box. Choose the second field and enter your field choices.

  5. Click OK to create the nested field.
