What should one of my employees do to maximize his own welfare? What should one of my employees do to maximize the welfare of my company?

These are the two questions you must ask when considering whether you have created appropriate incentives for your employees. The answers to these two questions will always differ at least slightly, but the more you can do to align your employee’s interests with your needs, the better workers you will have.
