When you click the Save icon, you see the Save As dialog box. You can choose where you want to save the document on your hard drivethat is, in which folder. You can either click a folder you already have or click the folder icon at the top of the window (the folder with a star in its corner) to create a new folder. Next, you need to select a file format. If you want to save this document on your computer and either print it or come back and edit it later, the default Open Document Text (.odt) is your best choice. If you'll publish it on the World Wide Web, you'll want to choose HTML. The Save As dialog box. If you'll share this document as an electronic file with someone who has only Microsoft Office on his or her computer, you'll want to choose the .doc selection that matches the version of Office the person has, as mentioned in Chapter 1, "First Things First." Note Not all versions of Microsoft Office can read or edit documents created in all other versions, but OpenOffice.org can read, edit, and save documents in just about all of them.
