Changing Your Cursors

Another item you can personalize with Windows XP is the cursor scheme that appears onscreen. Different schemes use different kinds of cursors. You can choose from normal cursors, 3D cursors, extra-large cursors, animated cursors, and so on.

To change your cursor scheme, follow these steps:

1.

From the Control Panel, click the Mouse icon.

2.

When the Mouse Properties utility opens, select the Pointers tab (shown in Figure 2.19).

Figure 2.19. Choose a new cursor scheme with the Mouse Properties utility.

3.

Select a new cursor scheme from the Scheme pull-down list. Alternatively, you can change a specific cursor by highlighting the cursor in the Customize list and clicking the Browse button to select a new cursor from the Cursor folder.

4.

Click OK when you've finished.

While you're in the Mouse Properties utility, you might want to check the Enable Pointer Shadow option. This puts a drop shadow under your cursor, similar to the one you can display under all your Windows menus.
