Software Installation


The final step is to install the software using either the script, VMSINSTAL, or the DCL command, PRODUCT (also called POLYCENTER). Read the installation instructions that accompany the product to determine the exact procedure and other requirements. Normally, options must be selected, and the manager should do his or her homework before installation. This is a typical PRODUCT installation dialog when installing TCP/IP:

     $ PRODUCT INSTALL TCPIP     The following products have been selected:     DEC AXPVMS TCPOz V5.1-0 Layered Product     Choose one or more items from the menu separated by commas: 1     The following product has been selected:     DEC VAXVMS TCPIP V5.1-0 Layered Product     Do you want to continue?
