About the Book


.NET provides a framework to develop several types of applications, such as Windows- and Web-based applications, and applications for console and mobile devices. Migrating applications to the .NET platform provides applications with advantages of a consistent programming model, cross-language and cross-platform interoperability, ease of deployment, enhanced security, and improved productivity in developing applications.

This book describes the .NET architecture and different types of .NET applications. It explains different types of migration and describes how to migrate Visual Basic 6.0, Visual C++, ASP, and ADO based applications to the .NET Framework.

About the Authors

Sakshi

Sakshi holds a Bachelor's degree in Information Sciences. She is proficient in C, C++, VB.NET and Java. She also has a sound knowledge of SQL Server, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, PageMaker, and InDesign. She has developed projects such as compression and decompression of text files in C and EEG based human alertness monitoring system in Visual Basic.

Rohit

Rohit holds a Master's degree in Computer Applications. He is proficient in C, C++, Java, and ASP.NET. He has been involved in developing portals using the .NET Framework. In addition, he has authored WBTs on Project 2000 and E-commerce.
