Chapter 7 -- Database Interfaces for Developers

Applications can connect to external databases through a variety of data access models that use an underlying interface. These interfaces are grouped into three basic categories: file-based and ISAM, ODBC, and OLE DB. Each type of interface is based on the type of data it stores. This lesson describes the three basic interfaces used to connect to external databases.
After completing this lesson, you will be able to:
  • Compare and contrast the three basic interfaces available for connecting to external databases.
