Audience

We chose scenarios that span horizontal markets to make this information relevant to a broad audience. For example, many companies are concerned with supply chain management, creating a retail Web site, setting up an automated e-procurement process, and so forth. The level of content is general enough to appeal to various disciplines within a large enterprise. At the same time, the detail is specific enough to add practical value to people who are tasked with implementing an enterprise-wide solution to a given business problem. Additionally, we targeted consultants , solution providers, application service providers, and independent software vendors to give them a framework they need to build solutions for their clients .

Information Technology and Business Managers

Information Technology (IT) managers and business managers need an easy-to-understand guide for how to use Microsoft's products and technologies together to build solutions that address urgent needs within their organizations. Each chapter begins with a scenario that describes a problem from the enterprise customer's perspective. The solution describes which products and technologies can be used together to address the scenario. This information helps decision makers to understand how to identify tools and technologies to address major projects in the coming year. Individual product documentation, by its very nature, cannot provide this view. The implementation and reference sections provide more detail to help you reach your goals successfully.

Information Technology Architects

Information Technology (IT) architects, system architects and system analysts will benefit from the blueprints provided in each chapter that relate to a specific scenario. The diagrams, figures, and overviews show you how to design integrated solutions to your problems. The Implementation section gives you code samples and ways to implement your design solution. Each chapter also contains references for where to go for more details on products, technologies, white papers, etc.
