Installing Microsoft Software
Install the following software with the following configurations on following computers in the order listed:
Gateway Server
- Windows 2000 Server
- ISA Server (Standard for single server or Enterprise for array)
- Configuration settings:
- Open inbound ports include 25 (SMTP), 80 (HTTP) and 443 (SSL)
- Open outbound ports include 25 (SMTP), 80 (HTTP) and 443 (SSL)
Accounting Server
- Windows 2000 Server or Advanced Server SP2
- SQL Server 2000
Transport Unpacking Server
- Windows 2000 Server or Advanced Server SP2
- IIS 5.0
- Exchange Server 2000
- MSMQ
Core Navigation Server
- Windows 2000 Server or Advanced Server SP2
- IIS 5.0
- MSMQ
- Data and software components to implement core geographic services
Deployment Checklist
- Remove all unwanted services in all servers, including the following:
- Terminal Services
- Registry
- RunAs
- RAS
- NNTP
- Messenger
- IIS Admin
- Close all unnecessary ports in the servers. You can do this by commenting out the respective ports on the services file.
- Connect the external NIC of External ISA servers to the Internet gateway router. Make sure the external NIC IP address is the same as the allocated Internet IP address.
- Configure the Internet DNS server computer hosting the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) to point to your Internet IP address.
- Test from an entirely different network to try connecting to FQDN using the Sample Application.
