Concepts and Terminology

Concepts and Terminology

Understanding the unique architecture of Content Management Server requires an understanding of a number of new concepts and the associated terminology. This section provides an overview of these concepts and introduces the terminology used to describe them. The discussion starts with the more basic, fundamental concepts and then moves to more advanced concepts. However, because the concepts are interrelated, it is difficult to talk about them in isolation from each other. Some terminology is used in the explanation of one concept, before its corresponding concept has been explained. Such terminology appears in italics to indicate that its explanation is forthcoming.

This section describes concepts and terminology that relates to both the 2001 and 2002 versions of Content Management Server, and points out differences where appropriate.
