BizTalk Server 2002

Microsoft BizTalk Server 2002 unites, in a single product, enterprise application integration (EAI) and business-to-business (B2B) integration. It provides a complete set of messaging and orchestration services that you can use to automate business and data-exchange processes.

BizTalk Server also provides a powerful Web-based development and execution environment that integrates loosely coupled, long-running business processes, both within and between businesses. The server provides a standard gateway for sending and receiving documents across the Internet, as well as providing a range of services that ensure data integrity, delivery, security, and support for the BizTalk Framework and other key document formats.

The minimum hardware requirements for a basic installation of Microsoft BizTalk Server include:

An Intel Pentium 300 Processor.
128 megabytes (MB) of RAM.
A 6-gigabyte (GB) hard disk.
A CD-ROM drive.
A network adapter card.
A VGA or Super VGA monitor.
A Microsoft or compatible pointing device.

Although the above configuration is sufficient to accommodate the software requirements shown below, you should consider additional resources (especially CPU processing and hard disk space) to increase performance.

Additional software must also be installed on the computer prior to installing the BizTalk Server. This software includes the following:

Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server with Service Pack 1.
Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 or Microsoft SQL Server 2000.
Microsoft Visio 2000 SR-1A or later.
Microsoft Message Queue (MSMQ) 2.0.
