Whether you’re staffing a plan with generic resources or actual resources, using the Assign Resources dialog box shown in Figure 13-8 is a best practice, as it gives you the greatest control over units. Further, it exposes a functionality that’s new in Project 2002: the R/D (Request or Demand) column. The Resource Substitution Wizard uses this attribute, which is why I mention it here.

You can invoke the Assign Resources dialog box from the Tools menu or by clicking the Assign Resources icon on the toolbar as shown here:
You can select as many tasks as you want when you use the Assign Resources dialog box.
