The IMS TM control region is a z/OS address space that can be initiated through a z/OS START command or by submitting JCL. The terminals, databases, message queues, and logs are all attached to this control region. A z/OS type-2 supervisor call routine is used to control IMS access to z/OS resources. The IMS TM control region normally runs as a system task and uses z/OS access methods for terminal and database access.
