IMS TM Control Region

The IMS TM control region is a z/OS address space that can be initiated through a z/OS START command or by submitting JCL. The terminals, databases, message queues, and logs are all attached to this control region. A z/OS type-2 supervisor call routine is used to control IMS access to z/OS resources.

The IMS TM control region normally runs as a system task and uses z/OS access methods for terminal and database access.

After the IMS TM control region is started, it starts the system dependent regions, DLISAS and DBRC. Then you can start the MPR and BMP regions through the use of:

  • IMS jobs

  • Job submission

  • Automated operator commands
