Summary

This short chapter provided you with an overview of Java WSDP. Each tool in the WSDP will be explained in detail in subsequent chapters where they are used. We recommend using the Ant targets as a starting point. Java WSDP does not contain any "enterprise class" features—you will have to integrate JWSDP with, say, the J2EE RI or another EJB container for writing application logic in EJBs. Java WSDP contains no reference implementation for XML security APIs (it does support basic SOAP/HTTP over SSL, however), nor does it support transaction protocols such as BTP. It is, however, a complete toolkit to model and build basic Web services that use Java APIs.

With this introduction to the Java WSDP, you are now ready to take on the next few chapters, which focus exclusively on implementing Web services on the Java platform.
