Create professional-looking DVDs
Watch DVDs on your Mac
As you’ve seen in the two previous chapters, Mac OS X offers a wide range of programs for working with digital music and photos. But it doesn’t stop there. The other two parts of Apple’s digital hub are iMovie and iDVD. iMovie lets you import, edit, and create digital videos, and iDVD lets you combine your video, photo, and music files to author professional quality DVDs.
In addition to creating and editing your own digital videos, Mac OS X lets you watch DVDs on your Mac. You can use the screen on your iMac, eMac, iBook, or PowerBook, use an external monitor on a desktop model, or even plug your Mac into a TV set if you don’t have a DVD player for your TV.
In this chapter, I’ll tell you all about working with movies and video on your Mac. I’ll talk about importing digital video, arranging and editing scenes, adding transitions and music, and easily creating high-quality videos. I’ll also tell you about iDVD, which, if your Mac has a SuperDrive, lets you create professional DVDs with video, pictures, and music. In addition, I’ll show you how you can watch DVDs on your Mac.
