Understanding wireless sniffing
In addition to attacks against the insecurities in Wi-Fi, crackers can also attack host computers on your WLAN, often using attack strategies carried over from wired networks. Once crackers have access to your WLAN, they can proceed to attack network hosts directly. Insecurities in the Windows OS don’t go away when you unplug the Ethernet cables; they’re just easier to get to. This chapter further examines ways that a cracker can compromise hosts and clients on a Wi-Fi network.
