Chapter 8: Form Formatting

How to…

Overview

  • Use layout tables

  • Create and manage form views

  • Work with borders and shading

  • Use color schemes

  • Conditionally format objects

Now that you have had a chance to look at the different types of controls and sections that you can use in your forms, it’s time to look at where you will spend the majority of your development time—formatting forms.

This chapter covers the whole gamut of formatting options for your forms, starting with organizing your form using layout tables, views, and more. You’ll then move on to working with borders and shading, as well as how to use InfoPath’s built-in color schemes to apply a coordinated look to your forms.

The chapter ends with a look at conditional formatting. Conditional formatting works on the basis that if some condition is true, then a formatting attribute will be applied. You can use this formatting technique to draw attention to invalid data entries, incorrect values, and more—most of the objects that you have looked at so far in InfoPath can use conditional formatting, so the possibilities are endless!

Before you get to that point, you need to look at how to better organize your form design, which is where you will start using layout tables.
