What's New

One of the enhancements in this release of Exchange Server is that you can now use a broad spectrum of clients to access Exchange Server 2003. As with previous versions of Exchange Server, Outlook is the premier client for Exchange users and offers the most functionality. Although Exchange Server 2003 can be accessed from Outlook 2000 or higher, Outlook 2003 has a number of features that were created specifically for this version of Exchange and the two products were developed at the same time.

The most noticeable difference between this and previous versions of Outlook is the new user interface, which includes a number of enhancements to the way users work with Outlook and how email is managed. From an administrator's viewpoint, Outlook 2003 fixes some of the nagging problems found in previous versions of the product and includes better synchronization, communications, and security.

This chapter looks at the new features of Outlook 2003 from both an end user and administrator perspective to ensure that you can successfully use and deploy the most common client used with Exchange Server 2003.
