6.13. How will the ES-Community differ from SAP's other partner and customer efforts?

The ES-Community is different from other ongoing partner and customer efforts in three primary ways. First, the ES-Community is focused on definitions of services and not specifically on SAP products. Other partner and customer programs are geared more toward SAP products and how SAP works with the ecosystem to take those products to market. Second, a robust legal framework supports the ES-Community and enables its members to participate without being overly concerned about how their IP can and will be used. Third, the ES-Community is not a give-to-get program (you don't get more by putting in more). Instead, SAP aims for broader acceptance of the definitions created by the ES-Community by making them widely available and encouraging participation through the community's meaningful impact on the resulting services.
