About the Author

Paul Martz is a senior software engineer at SimAuthor, Inc., in Boulder, Colorado, where he creates OpenGL-based flight-data visualization software. Before working at SimAuthor, Paul worked in the Graphics Software Lab at Hewlett-Packard and the Workstation Graphics Division at Evans & Sutherland.

Paul has been involved in computer graphics since 1986, with 3D graphics systems software and OpenGL device driver development at the heart of his career. In 1993, Paul developed performance-sensitive code for Evans & Sutherland's first OpenGL product. In the late 1990s, Paul contributed to HP-UX and Microsoft Windows OpenGL device driver development for Hewlett-Packard's OpenGL-based workstation graphics hardware. Paul has helped review revisions to the OpenGL specification and is currently an individual contributor to the OpenGL ARB.

Paul led the effort to create the OpenGL Technical FAQ, available at the official OpenGL Web site: http://www.opengl.org. He has also written several technical white papers, Internet tutorials, and computer graphics book reviews.

When not doing something OpenGL-related, Paul can usually be found with an ace in his hat at a poker game or making lots of noise playing drums.
