Using the AutoCorrect feature, Word automatically corrects hundreds of common typing and spelling mistakes as you work. You can also add your own set of mistakes and the corrections to the list Word references.
Click Tools.
Click AutoCorrect Options.
The AutoCorrect dialog box appears.
The corrections Word already makes automatically appear in this area.
Click here and type the word you typically mistype or misspell.
Click here and type the correct version of the word.
Click Add.
Word adds the entry to the list of entries to automatically correct.
Repeat steps 3 to 5 for each automatic correction you want to add.
Click OK to close the AutoCorrect dialog box.
How does the automatic correction work?
You do not need to do anything unusual – just type. If you mistype or misspell a word stored as an AutoCorrect entry, Word corrects the entry when you press .
What should I do if Word automatically replaces an entry that I do not want replaced?
Position the insertion point at the beginning of the AutoCorrected word and click the AutoCorrect Options icon () that appears. From the list of choices displayed, click Change back to. To make Word permanently stop correcting an entry, follow steps 1 to 4; when the stored AutoCorrect entry appears, click Delete.
