About the Authors


Professor Mike Holcombe is head of the Verification and Testing Research Group in the Department of Computer Science, University of Sheffield, and dean of the faculty of engineering. He is the author of five research monographs and edited works, and around 100 papers on subjects in software engineering, theoretical computing, pure mathematics, and bioinformatics.

Dr. Marian Gheorghe has been interested for more than 20 years in computational models, formal language theory, and software engineering. He has written more than 40 papers investigating the power and properties of various computational models as well as their use in defining efficient parsing strategies or specifying and testing dynamic systems.

Francisco Macias received a B.E. degree in geology from the Instituto Politecnico Nacional in Mexico, and an M.S. degree in computer sciences from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico. He worked for one year at Olivetti in software production. After six years as a lecturer in Mexican universities, he joined the Department of Computer Science of the University of Sheffield. He is pursuing a Ph.D. in the Verification and Testing Research Group.
