In this chapter, you’ve seen how XDR schemas can be annotated and used as mapping schemas to retrieve XML data from SQL Server. This can be an extremely useful approach in building business-to-business (B2B) applications in which schemas are used to define the business documents exchanged by trading partners. By simply adding annotations to the XDR schemas that you and your trading partners have agreed to use, you can transparently map the data in the XML documents to the tables and columns in your database.
