Points to Remember

It's wild, it's flashy, it's got really annoying sound effects, it's pinball! In this chapter we dissect a basic version of this very popular game. You may want to review the chapters on collision detection and collision reactions, because this chapter uses a lot of both. We will focus on the construction of the game, not the techniques used for collision detection and reaction.

Prerequisites

Chapter 5, "Collision Detection." Pinball involves a lot of objects with which a ball can collide. Understanding collision detection is imperative to understanding this game.

Chapter 6, "Collision Reactions." In this chapter we are going to use wall collisions, ball-line collisions, and ball-ball collisions. To fully understand the game, you need to understand how the ball reacts to these collisions.

Chapter 10, "Using a High Score List." In pinball we are going to use the High Score List movie clip, covered in that chapter. Understanding how a high score list works is not important for understanding pinball, but it is for understanding all aspects of the game file.
