Creating a Smart Album

In Lesson 3 you created a Smart Album for the location shots. You will create one for the delivery shots as well. You will start by rating the images.

1.

Select the two groups that contain the hero images.

2.

Choose Metadata > Five Stars or press Command-5 to rate the images with five stars.

3.

Select the "maybe" group of tropical images.

4.

Choose Metadata > Three Stars or press Command-3 to give the images a three-star rating.

5.

Select the "maybe" group of sidewalk images and give them a three-star rating.

6.

Select the remaining two groups of images (on the lower left of each of the groupings) and give them each a one-star rating (Command-1).

One star may seem harsh for images that made the cut, but by distributing the ratings across the spectrum, you have a lot of flexibility to increase or decrease the ratings of any image at any time.

Your work is done in the Light Table, so let's switch to the Maximize Browser layout to create a Smart Album.

7.

Press Command-Option-B.

8.

Control-click the Grande Fashion project icon in the Projects panel and choose New Smart > Album.

9.

Name the new album Grande Favorites and press Return.

10.

Drag the Ratings slider to five stars and then close the Query HUD.

The 6 five-star images you will be delivering should be visible in the Browser.

11.

Drag the Thumbnail Resize slider in the Browser to enlarge the thumbnails until you see two rows of three.

The images are ready to be burned to a CD for the client, but before we do that, let's print a contact sheet to go along with it.
