The ideal game environment used to test and evaluate high-level behaviors is a combination of all others. As usual, using multiple genuine worlds ensures that the behaviors developed will transfer straight into the real game. These environments should offer the following:

  • Many weapons and items

  • A variety of combat situations

  • Different terrain layouts

By using accelerated simulation of the game, the AI will encounter sufficiently different situations, because of the unpredictable nature of most game designs.
