Moving Documents

After creating and then saving a document, you may wish to move that item to a different location within your disk or to a removable disk or server volume. The Mac OS makes this very easy. Simply drag the item from its original location to a new one. You can drag the item to an item in the Sidebar, to a folder represented in the Dock, to any area of your Desktop, to the root level of your hard drive, or to any area of your user folder. This drag-and-drop method of moving should be very familiar to you by now. A new feature of Mac OS X is Cut and Paste moves. After selecting an item, select Cut from the Edit menu (or from the contextual menu of a particular item), and then with the desired new location active, select Paste from the Edit menu and the item will be moved to the new location. This technique will be very familiar to former Windows users.
