Particles and Dynamics

Particles: Maya has a completely different way of creating particles than max does. You can paint them into their starting positions, use emitters, or have them emit from objects. Many of the particle types must be rendered onscreen in Maya's Hardware Render Buffer (using the quick-shaded mode that utilizes your 3D card) and then composited into your scene.

Dynamics: Maya has a mode dedicated to dynamics, with fast, complex dynamics completely built in. Instead of max's space warps, Maya uses fields that are applied to currently selected objects. The Dynamic Relationships dialog box (Window | Relationship Editors | Dynamic Relationships) lets you edit the assignment of fields to objects. Like max's space warps, Maya's fields apply to both particles and dynamics. Maya does not have a real-time interactive dynamics mode like max's Reactor.
