tab

An element that enables you to separate objects with a precise amount of space (such as 1"), which using the spacebar can't do.



tab stop

An element you place in your ruler to allow you to add space and alignment between your tabs. For example, you could add a right, center, left-aligned, decimal, or bar tab stop.



table

A series of rows and columns. The intersection of a row and column is called a cell, which is where you type text and numbers.



taskbar

The bar on the Windows desktop (usually at the bottom of the screen) that contains the Start button at one end and the clock at the other. When a document is open, a button for it appears on the taskbar.



task pane

A vertical pane that usually appears on the right side of the application window and contains information and options associated with a particular feature. By default, task panes appear automatically when you perform certain actions.



TaskPad

In Outlook, a list of tasks that displays when you use the Calendar view.



template

Available in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, a template provides predesigned patterns on which documents and workbooks can be based.



text box

A small box in a dialog box in which you can type text or numbers.



text wrapping

Text automatically flows to the next line without having to insert a carriage return using the Enter key.



theme

A consistent visual in a document that can include colors, icons, bullets, figures, background colors, and so on.



title bar

The bar across the top of a window that lists the name of the program and document that's open in the window.



toggle

A button or keyboard command you click or press once to turn an option on and again to turn it off.



toolbar

A collection of frequently used commands that appear as icon buttons you can click to activate.



transition effect

Movement that occurs between slides in PowerPoint to smooth the passing from one slide to another.
